Welcome to Playce. Playce is a platform designed to help women discover, join, and participate in local football activities in London. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
You must be at least 18 years old to book or take part in a Playce session. When you book you are asked to confirm this, and we may ask for proof of age on the night. By using the Platform you confirm you are legally capable of entering agreements, that the information you provide is accurate, and that you will comply with these Terms.
The Platform exists to support women's football participation and community building. Users agree not to use the Platform for:
Users must treat others with respect and help maintain a safe environment. The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:
We reserve the right to remove content or restrict access for users who violate these guidelines, at our sole discretion.
Football carries a risk of injury. Our sessions are recreational rather than competitive, but collisions and knocks happen. Please take part only if you are fit to do so.
What we do. We check the playing surface before each session, run sessions to the format advertised, keep a first aid kit on site with someone who knows where it is, and record any incident that occurs.
What we ask of you. Play within your ability. Wear football boots suitable for the surface, and we recommend shin pads. Stop if you are hurt.
What we are responsible for. We are responsible for running sessions with reasonable care and skill. See Section 11 for the full terms on our liability, including for death, personal injury, or anything else that can't lawfully be excluded.
What we are not responsible for. Subject to Section 11, we are not responsible for injury arising from the ordinary risks of playing football where we have taken reasonable care; for the conduct of other participants; for belongings you bring to a session, which you bring at your own risk; or for arrangements you make privately with people you meet through Playce.
When meeting people you have not met before, we encourage you to take the usual precautions, including telling someone where you are going.
Booking and payment. Sessions are booked and paid for in advance through this website. The price is shown on the session page before you book. Payment is taken by Stripe on our behalf; we never see or store your card details. Your booking is confirmed once payment succeeds, and Stripe emails you a receipt.
No cancellation period. Because a session is a leisure activity arranged for a specific date, the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 does not apply.
If you can't make it. Tickets are non-refundable. You may transfer your spot to someone else at no cost — email hello@playce.co.uk with their name at least 24 hours before kick-off and we will change the name on the list. We ask for at least 3 days' notice where possible so we can offer the spot to someone else.
If we cancel. If we cancel a session for any reason — including weather, venue closure or too few players — we will refund you in full to your original payment method. We will process the refund within 5 working days. Once processed, it usually reaches your account in 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank; this part is outside our control. If we change the date or venue significantly, you may choose between transferring your booking or a full refund.
Capacity. Places are limited and sold on a first-come basis. Once a session is full, no further bookings are accepted.
Behaviour at sessions. We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone breaching the Community Guidelines in section 4. No refund is given in these circumstances.
Users may report inappropriate behaviour, unsafe conduct, or policy breaches by contacting hello@playce.co.uk. We reserve the right to investigate complaints, remove content, restrict functionality, and cooperate with law enforcement where necessary.
Information We Collect
Through our waitlist form we collect: email address, general area of London, sporting preferences, and answers to optional questions about your interest in football.
When you book a session we collect: your first name, email address, and how much football you have played before. We also record which session you booked, and that you confirmed you are 18 or over — we keep the wording you were shown alongside your answer, so there is a record of what was asked and agreed. If you tick the box to hear about future sessions, we keep that choice, the wording you agreed to, and the time you agreed it. The booking form has no free-text box and does not ask you for any health information. Stripe separately collects the information needed to take your payment, including your name and card details — these go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.
If you book a research call with us, Calendly collects your name, email address and the time you chose, so that we can meet you.
Things you send us
If you email us, we keep your message and your email address for as long as it takes to deal with what you asked and to keep the thread coherent. If you transfer your spot to someone else under section 6, you give us that person's name — we use it only to change the name on the list for that session, we do not add them to any mailing list, and we delete it within 30 days of the session.
Health and access information
We do not ask you for health information and we do not collect it through this site. Information about your health is "special category data" under UK GDPR and gets extra protection, so we have deliberately kept it out of the booking system: the booking form has no free-text box, asks nothing about injuries, conditions or access needs, and stores none.
Two situations can still bring health information to us. If you choose to tell us something yourself, we use it only to run that session safely, we share it only with the people running that session, we delete it within 30 days of the session, and it is never added to our mailing list records. And if an accident happens at a session, we record what happened, and that record may include information about an injury — see Legal Basis and Data Retention below for how long we keep it and why.
Technical data
This site sets no cookies. It uses a privacy-friendly analytics tool that counts page visits without storing anything on your device and without identifying you — see section 9. Separately, the site has to be served to you by a host, and our host receives and logs the technical details of each request: your IP address, your browser type and version, and the page you asked for. This happens on every visit and is what allows the site to be served securely and abuse to be spotted. We do not use these logs to build a picture of you, we do not combine them with anything else we hold about you, and they are kept under our host's own retention schedule rather than ours.
Children
Playce is for adults. You must be 18 or over to book or take part in a session, as set out in section 2. This site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, email hello@playce.co.uk and we will delete them.
How We Use It
We use this information to operate the waitlist, take bookings and payments, run sessions safely, contact you about a session you have booked, and understand user needs to shape the platform. If you have opted in, we also email you about future Playce sessions and events.
Legal Basis
We rely on different bases depending on the information:
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate the Platform:
Where these providers are outside the UK, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards under Article 46 of the UK GDPR — the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, depending on the provider. We keep a record of which applies to each.
We do not sell your personal data.
Data Retention
How long we keep information depends on what it is:
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
We will respond within one calendar month. We do not make any automated decisions about you and we do not carry out profiling.
Contact for data requests: hello@playce.co.uk
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first — email hello@playce.co.uk with the word "complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days of receiving it and tell you what we are doing about it.
If you are not satisfied with our response, or you would rather go straight to the regulator, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at any time: ico.org.uk | 0303 123 1113.
This site sets no cookies and does not track you across other websites. That is why you are not asked to accept a cookie banner.
Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits, so we can see which pages are used and how people move through the site. It is privacy-friendly by design: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and creates no identifier that would let us recognise you on a return visit or follow you to another website. It records the page you visited, the site you came from, and a general country, browser and device type. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, this does not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used, weighed against your privacy and kept to aggregate statistics only.
When you book a session, your first name is stored in your browser for the length of that visit, so the confirmation screen can greet you by name after you return from payment. It is cleared when you close the tab and it never reaches us as a separate record. This is exempt from the consent requirement in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations because it is strictly necessary for the service you asked for.
All Platform content, excluding user-generated content, is owned by or licensed to Playce. You may not reproduce, distribute, or exploit Platform materials without written permission.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
Subject to that:
Third-party sites and services. Booking a session takes you to Stripe's checkout to pay, and some links on this site lead to services we do not run, such as Calendly. Those services are operated by other companies, under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, their availability, or how they handle what you do while you are on them. Section 8 lists the ones we use and what each is for.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
No third party shall be entitled to enforce any of these Terms, whether under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 or otherwise. This applies even where a session, booking, or transferred spot appears to benefit someone other than the person who made the booking. Nothing in this clause affects any right or remedy of a third party that exists or is available independently of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
We may update these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be posted with a revised date. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
